Shivaji's mother's name was Jijabai and his father's name was Shahaji who was a Maratha general in the court of Adilsha. Shivaji did not like it when his father bowed before Adilsha. when he visited once, his father bowed to Adilsha, but, Shivaji did not like it again. When some ministers told Shivaji to bow before Adilsha, Shivaji replied fearlessly, " I do not bow before anyone except my mother". This made Adilsha furious. But he controlled his anger.
